On the way to the lake Thumsee in 4 km from Bad-Reichenhall there is a church on the mountain. Local citizens call it the church 333 steps and the official name is Wallfahrtskirche St.Pankarz, next to the church, the ruins of the castle Burgruine Karlstein are seen.
You have to go up 333 steps to climb this mountain. You should park your car somewhere near on the way (an orient address of the church: Schmalschlägerstraße 20, 83435 Bad-Reichenhall, you cannot climb this mountain with a pram, because of the steps, sometimes steep steps. The most of the time the church is closed; it is open only for special services. However, the view on Bad-Reichenhall from there is wonderful!
It is difficult to get to the ruins ))
Go up on this path to the tributary, there is a sign, but in bad weather (even rain) the path is closed, I was there with my 8-year-old daughter and did not venture to go there – it was closed, but there was no control. Hope I will get there someday…
There are lots of photos in google maps, I have only a photo from the side Thumsee
It is worth walking there at least because of the landscapes around, if you have spare time and no time limits.
