The walk along this gorge demands a physical training; it was named for a reason The Hell Valley..
It is situated not far from the gorge Partnachklamm.
However, unlike that gorge it is more difficult to get there, cyclists and mothers with prams could not get here. The gorge abounds with many bridges, ladders, narrow passages and tunnels. The length of the route along the gorge is about 1000 meters, besides, you can visit the museum devoted to the history of this wonder of nature. For those who bought the ticket to the gorge the entrance to the museum is free. You can visit the gorge only in summer, because in winter, there may be the avalanche and visiting the gorge is not safe.
The entrance to the gorge is paid. For adults – 5 euros, for children from 7 to 17 years – 2 euros. Children under 6 years – free.
As a rule, the gorge is open from the middle of May to the middle of October. Concrete information about the opening of the gorge you can watch on this website of the Alpine club.
If you go by car so the easiest way is from the parking Höllentalstraße 18, 82491 Grainau (the parking is paid, half a day is 5 euros, the whole day is 8 euros), go along the Höllentalstraße to the hotel Berghotel Hammersbach, here is the bus stop (the schedule and the rate for the buses are here). Then follow the signs to the gorge. The distance to the gorge is about 2 km 800 meters, the path is not close, and it mostly goes through the forest, so it will be a wonderful walk in a hot day. The site recommends planning a 90 minutes walk, but it depends on your physical condition.
