Schafbergbahn the steepest cog railway in Austria. Built and put into operation in 1893, the locomotives that you will see today have been operating since that time - for more than 100 years!!! The ride on this railway is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe. The route is 5.85 km long and takes about 35 minutes. Interestingly, the first locomotive for this road was delivered on a sled. Along the way, you will pass through two tunnels and finally reach the top of the Schafberg mountain, which offers a great view of the Salzkammergut lakes.
On this page of the website you can watch the schedule of the railway .
Address for navigator: Markt 123/12, 5360 St. Wolfgang im Salzkammergut. Mind the fact that it is the territory of Austria and you need a vignette.
