The classical medieval castle, a little bit dark but at the same time, it is a real fortress. It is the castle Tittmoning
The castle is known from 790 year. It was first the residence of Salzburg Archbishops, and then it came to the Bavarian dukes. In the middle ages, the fortress was practically impregnable. For three years, the future cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who was elected in 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI, lived in this castle.

Now two museums are working in the castle - museums of the Tittmoning's castle, which work from 1 May to 3 October from Thursday to Sunday from 14 until 17 o'clock. Because of the little size of the castle, you can visit it only with an excursion. The entrance to the museum Rupertiwinkel costs 3 euros, to the tanning museum - 1 euro.
And follow the events in the city Tittmoning, because in May there is a Knights tournament, and during the year there are musical and other festivals.
